A brand new “first time” thing is happening today! I am reviewing a product that has absolutely nothing to do with food. I could stretch it a little by saying that it does have something to do with food because when you eat, this stuff does not budge. So let’s go with that!
This Lipsense Product Review all started with a day at the spa with some friends. My friend, Pammy, had started selling Lipsense, which I had never heard of. Like ever.
Where have I been? Not on Instagram apparently. 🙂 Then I realized a lot of my friends and family had not heard of the product either. So I knew I wanted to review it to bring attention to a great product!
I’m going to give you a bit of my lipstick background first. Days I wore lipstick in the past were few and far between. Like, I own 2. And I hate them. What’s wrong with them? Everything. From having to reapply, to having my lips look like someone just smeared chalk all over them that is now clumping and falling off, to drying my lips, I’ve seen it all and hated it. Each and every time I walked into Ulta or Sephora I would think I was going to find something new that would actually work. Yet each and every time I came home with something I realized not a day later that I hated. Lipstick was never a part of my daily routine.
Fast forward to the our girls spa day, my friend Pammy who had just started selling had a bunch of samples. Of course I picked the boldest color, Purple Reign, not understanding that I would wake up the next morning and it would still be perfectly on my lips, and applied it just like Pammy told me to.
- 3 layers
- Don’t go back and forth
- Let each layer dry
- Seal it with the glossy gloss
Simple, right? I was actually shocked that my lips weren’t dry and the color was still there THE NEXT MORNING. Like it hadn’t budged, it looked really nice, my lips weren’t all funky and crinkling and cracking.
Needless to say, I own a few of my own colors now, and feel prepared to give a solid opinion on what I think of the product after using it for a few weeks.
My Lipsense Review
I’m going to talk to you just like I would a friend if I were to tell them in person what I thought of this product. First I would say yes, it does exactly what it says it is supposed to do. It doesn’t smudge, doesn’t budge, and doesn’t swipe off. The girls on Instagram wiping their lips on white pillows are not doing magic tricks, the product really doesn’t wipe off. I can put mine on at the beginning of the day and be good well into the evening without any signs of wear showing. Everyone does have a water line that will begin to show on the inside of your lips first, however mine doesn’t start showing until the evening (I apply between 8-9 A.M.).
Upon application, it will tingle a bit on your lips. The product has alcohol in it for sanitary reasons I suppose, and it feels just like putting hand sanitizer on your hands. If you can envision the way your hands tingle when you first put sanitizer on them, Lipsense is exactly the same. This part of the product did not discourage me from using it at all. As a matter of fact, I actually like it. I have heard some people say they don’t like this, which is understandable given the fact that this is not the norm with lip products. It may catch you off guard the first time you use it, but after that you will know what’s up!
After application you can either use a glossy gloss or a matte gloss. A gloss is essential to using the product because it seals the color on your lips and moisturizes. The gloss dries in about 30 minutes or so and leaves your lips colored. Like until the end of the day colored! I re-apply my gloss 2-3 times throughout the day, however I don’t feel like I HAVE to. When the gloss is dried, my lips don’t feel much different then they do if there is nothing on them at all.
When I got my first color, Pammy advised me that the Opps! Remover that comes in the kits isn’t completely necessary. I have to agree. I didn’t purchase one, so obviously I haven’t used it at all. I leave my color on until the next morning and then wet a washcloth and go over my lips lightly until it is off. It doesn’t take much effort. However, I know there are some folks who should absolutely purchase the remover. I can just picture my mom with her magnifying mirror trying to put the Lipsense on and getting frustrated when she messes up. Also, if your hands are shaky at all from coffee, medication, etc. you will want the remover.
The Sappy Part About Why I became a Distributor
So you love a product, why sell it? Because I have honestly never in my 29 years on this earth LOVED a lip product. Some of them were fine, I may have used them occasionally, but almost all of the ones I’ve recently tried were a waste of money because they destroyed my lips. I was shocked when I woke up that next morning and my lips felt good and weren’t dry. I use my Lipsense everyday now and it makes me feel pretty. It gave me a little boost of confidence. It makes me feel girly. You guys, I am 100% of the time surrounded by 5 males. There is absolutely nothing girly about my life. This helps a little bit, and I want to spread the Lipsense Love because its fun and engaging, and maybe someone else needs a bit of girly in their life as well. <3
